Worthy of repeating as we embark upon so many new venture as this year continues.
Having worked in surgery for over twenty years, I have seen
a lot of surgical procedures. One of
which was an incision and drainage. After the surgical procedures which involved
draining out fluids from the wound, the doctor would pack the wound with gauze
that was plain or medicated, pending the need of that wound. This is so that
the empty cavity would not refill itself with the same, poisonous fluid,
preventing proper healing.
Isn't that somewhat like life? When we remove something
poisonous from our lives, we must feel the cavity. If we don't immediately feel
the cavity with something good to nurture our healing it will refill itself
with the same poisons that caused the corruption in the first place.
Take something out, put something good in, is the philosophy.
Example; when we replace negative friends with positive friends, adopting new
positive family to replace negative family, replace hate with love, using
positive tool to overcome all negative addictions and bad habits.
If we don't choose
and leave the cavity of our lives empty, it can be filled with the work of Satan. That is
why it is said, “An idled mind is the devil's workshop,” because the cavity,
when emptied, wasn’t refilled with things that heal, things that preserve, it
automatically fills itself with things that corrupt.
Paul says, "whatever is true, whatever is noble,
whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is
admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such
things" Philippians 4:8 NIV. Pack these things in our hearts; surround
ourselves with these types of peoples. This is the packing that will continue to
heal.
